Admissions Guidlines and Policies
Pride Academy Charter School follows the following guidelines for student admissions:
Priority of Admissions
Preference for admission is given in the following order:
- Students who reside in Newark, Orange, or East Orange and have siblings who have already been selected for admission.
- All other students who reside in Newark, Orange, or East Orange.
- Applicants from other New Jersey school districts.
Within each of the groups above, students will be selected according to the order in which their name is drawn in our admission lotteries.
Wait List
When the number of applicants exceeds the number of openings, our admissions priority and the order of selection in our lotteries will determine a student's position on our wait lists.
Please note that because of our sibling policy, the siblings of any students who are accepted in a lottery automatically move to the top of the waiting list along with the siblings of other accepted applicants.
If an opening becomes available during the school year, then it will be offered to the first student on the waiting list.
Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity
PRIDE Academy Charter School adheres to the laws and regulations set forth in N.J.A.C. 6A:7- 1.8; Title VII, Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX, Education Amendments of 1972; N.J.S.A. 10:5, and Equal Pay Act 1973, and is committed to ensuring equality in Educational, Employment, and Contract Practices for all persons, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status.
