The education experience your child deserves

Infusing your child’s education with lessons in life

As a parent, you know that choosing the right school is about more than the qualifications of your child’s teachers, the subjects that are taught, or the facilities that are available.

You want a school that aligns with your core values and develops your child’s character, so they can be the best version of themselves. A school that helps your child not only prepare for high school, but for life.

Teachers that look past your child’s grades to focus on their talents and individuality. Who help your child overcome their unique challenges. You want teachers that are there for your child, as a mentor, a role model, and their biggest fan.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. At Pride Academy, we are committed to being that village. We build a partnership with you to help your child achieve more than they thought possible.

Parent Involvement

Pride Academy encourages and welcomes the involvement of parents in the life of our school. The school administration and faculty are committed to building partnerships with parents to help children achieve high standards and to collaborating with the community to enhance its educational program.

Parents at Pride School Academy are:

Involved

Throughout the year, you’ll be invited to parent council meetings, parent workshops (but we like to call them parties), and outreach programs – so you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference to your child’s education.

Informed

Our open door policy, regular check-ins, and informative monthly newsletters means you’ll always know how your child is getting on and be able to collaborate with teachers to improve their experience.

Supported

The challenges and pressures facing parents in this fast-paced world are no joke. We offer support to help you through the challenges you and your family face whether academically or socially.

At PRIDE, we are dedicated to working in partnership with parents and to providing opportunities for on-going parental support and leadership. Throughout the year, the school hosts parent council meetings, parent workshops, and outreach programs. In the past, we have enjoyed BINGO for Books, where we talk about literacy… and our male-focused parent party “Football with the Fellas”, where we talk about healthy relationships, sexual harassment, and online safety from a male perspective. Make sure you are receiving our newsletters for upcoming parent meetings, parties and programs.

Out commitment to parent involvement is explained in more detail in our:

Our approach to your child’s education

At Pride, we believe that nothing is more important to your child’s education at school than having dedicated, responsive, and well-prepared teachers. Our subject-specific teachers meet the “highly qualified” standard.

Relationship Building

Your child will be surrounded by teachers who truly listen and get to know them on a deeper level. We are known for having meaningful conversations with scholars and creating lasting relationships, even after they’ve graduated.

Cultural Celebration

At the heart of our school is a profound respect for culture and appreciating each other’s differences. This is why we organize annual events like our Latin Dance Party and Kwanzaa Celebration. Everyone’s culture is celebrated and included at Pride Academy.

Community Projects

Your child is involved in community projects. In a school community dedicated to positive leadership, and active service, your child understands they have the power to make a positive difference in the world.

Conflict Resolution

When conflict arises, your child will not be punished without us first talking with you and your child to understand every side of the story. We try to resolve the issue from the root rather than the surface. Our school applies the principles of Restorative Justice to our conflict resolution and discipline.

Critical Thinking

Using our “Pride Plan for Change” method, your child will become an intelligent critical thinker by developing the four key habits of learning. “Pride Plan for Change” applies the skills of questioning, seeking, understanding, and action.

Character Development

Rooted in our core values, we instill character traits in your child that will not only help them to succeed in high school, we also help them to become a better person in the community and define who they want to be in life.

Parents and Teachers

At Pride, we encourage contact between parents and their student’s teachers through:

  • Parent-teacher conferences.
  • Frequent reports on student progress including Report Card Nights and Progress Reports.
  • Calls home to parents.

Parents may contact teachers directly via telephone, voicemail, or email. Parents are also encouraged to contact the school to make appointments for face-to-face meetings or telephone conferences.
